Pride in Academic Achievement & Sporting Excellence
Maribyrnong College

College Overview
Maribyrnong College is situated 8km north west of the Melbourne CBD, on almost 20 acres of land overlooking the Maribyrnong River valley and the city skyline. The buildings are old but well maintained and include a well resourced library, extensive computer facilities, air-conditioned classrooms, a 300 seat theatre and extensive recreation areas. We have recently commenced a master planning process that will result in the entire College being rebuilt over the next 3 to5 years. The first stage of this process will be a state of the art gymnasium which will be completed by 2009.
Our students hail from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Many live in the local area, but a number travel each day from further a-field to attend our College. As well, we have approximately 30 International Students whose families live in Vietnam.
Our current enrolment is around 700 and this is expected to grow to 1100 over the next five years. The growth will be due to a combination of growing interest in our programs and practices, which more effectively meet the high educational expectations of our community and our Sports Specialism Program.
Currently 200 of our students are enrolled in the Sports Specialism and these enrolments will grow to around 400. The sports students work along side our mainstream students for most of their academic learning, and also have access to specialist programs that support their sporting talents.
Our College motto “Pride in Performance” defines our purpose, which is to support our students to develop their academic, social and sporting potential and to take pride in their achievements and the fact that they belong to our College. Our curricular and extra curricular programs are designed to ensure that students can achieve high personal outcomes and will leave the College well prepared for the next stage of their lives.
Details about all that we have to offer can be found on this website. As well, prospective parents are invited to call the College to make an appointment to tour the school.
